The Bolitho Family have owned and operated Waimea Family Estate Wines since 1993 when Trevor and Robyn Bolitho first planted grapes on the Waimea Plains of Nelson, New Zealand.
Today, the business is run by a dedicated team of professionals headed by son Ben, who since 2005 has been Waimea's Viticulturist and then became General Manager in 2010. That team extends to a growing number of International distributors and resellers who work hard to bring Waimea and Spinyback to the tables of wine lovers around the world.

Hamish Kempthorne - Head Winemaker
Hamish Kempthorne heads the winemaking team at Waimea Estates having created wines for over 15 years across Australia and New Zealand's premium cool climate winemaking regions. Over this time Hamish has earned many international accolades throughout his career, including his most recent for 'World's Best Pinot Noir' at the International Wine & Spirit Competitions in London. Married with three free range young children (Lily, Charlie & Archie) there is plenty to keep him busy when not hidden amongst the vines and barrels of Waimea Estates.
Martin Carrington - Export Manager
Martin Carrington looks after the Sales and Marketing for Waimea Estates – with an emphasis on growing our Export sales. Martin’s wine and food career began during his post-studies OE travels, when he was suddenly given responsibility for an English restaurant’s wine list. He took the opportunity whilst traveling to visit many of the world’s winemaking regions and for him this turned wine from being just another beverage into being a part of everyday life. Wine became part of his life - with experience in judging in wine, cheese and restaurant competitions, owning a wine & food retail store, part-owning a successful Ponsonby Road restaurant, brands management, sales management and Public Relations. Martin has worked in almost every facet of the wine and food hospitality area over the last thirty years, and tells us ‘when you enjoy your work, it’s not just a job any more’.
Fiona Ingham - Administration Manager
Nelson born and raised, Fiona has been a vital part of our team since she joined us in November 2005. Ultra-efficient, whilst working full time with us, Fiona also juggled part-time study, first graduating in 2011 with a BCom in Marketing and in 2014 she earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Marketing. In the weekends, Fi's favourite drop of Waimea wine is our Classic Riesling or Rose, often earned after an adventurous bike ride or gym session with her local club.
Malanie Ching - Administration Assistant
Malanie joined our team in 2013, then as our office junior. She has very quickly become the glue that holds the office together, along with Fiona. Malanie is extremely efficient, hard working and your first point of contact at Waimea. Malanie enjoys spending time on the beautiful walking trails and beaches in our region or out in the hills hunting with her partner.
