Wines
In terms of brands, Waimea Estates has a three tier range with our focus on Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Chardonnay:
The Waimea Range:
The flagship Waimea range retails at very realistic prices and is made every year. These wines are made from the best sites on our vineyards. Good wine is made in the vineyard and that is why a primary focus at Waimea Estates is growing top quality grapes and ensuring they reach the winery in good condition. Yields are controlled and canopy management during the ripening season is intensive. Leaf-plucking may take time, and crop-thinning is psychologically hard to do, but we think the effort is worth it! And having patience at harvest rewards us with physiologically ripe and highly concentrated fruit...

The Bolitho Signature Vineyard Range:
When the vintage conditions allow and the resulting wines are classified as exceptional, ‘Bolitho Signature Vineyard’ wines are created from specially selected, low-yielding vineyards. With their smart black label, these well-structured wines tend to have an on-premise focus, and when available in fine wine stores they tend to command premium pricing.

The Spinyback Range:
The Spinyback brand is an exciting recently-launched range and typically sells in wine stores at mid-range pricing. These wines are made in a vibrant fruit-driven easy-drinking style. Sales of Spinyback (the word is a transliteration of ‘Tuatara’) raise funds for local iwi Ngati Koata’s educational and conservational efforts around the Tuatara on Stephen’s Island. With fresh modern packaging and a fascinating story behind it, this brand is going extremely well for the winery in overseas markets.
